So each day every day you and your cabin mate have to drink and/or sample at least enough premium beverages (specialty coffee, alcoholic beverages, mocktails, etc.) to break even on the package in order for it not to be a loss. Okay, but that’s not paying for convenience… that’s paying for getting to be able to sample a bunch of drinks… which is fine if that’s what you want to do. I get that if you’re going to drink enough to hit the price of the deluxe drink package it’s worth it (whether it be just alcohol or a combo of alcohol, coffee, juice, etc.), but to me if you’re not then how is it still convenient? I mean the bartender takes your card and scans it for the drink… is the convenience skipping that and the signing of receipt (or do you still have to do that with the DDP)?
I had my credit card linked to my account (as I assume everyone else does)… at the end of the cruise the few alcoholic drinks I did buy just went on the card… seems pretty convenient to me.
Question for those who say they do it for the convenience… if you’re not consuming enough drinks to hit the price of the package (or more) then aren’t you wasting money? Where’s the convenience? I sailed with my family recently on a 4 night… we bought the Refreshment Package which included everything but alcohol because we do drink the specialty coffee, and we all drink sparkling water like nobody’s business, but we’re not big alcohol drinkers.
